First, Distinguish Between Focus BKT and Focus Stacking

Focus BKT continuously captures a series of photos at different focus positions, with the user choosing the number of shots and the focus differential; it and in-camera Focus Stacking are listed separately in the manual. The following menus and restrictions apply only to the OM-1 Mark II.〔G-CA444-01〕〔G-CA444-02〕

Setting Up Focus BKT

Enable the function in MENU > b > 3. Bracketing > Focus BKT, then set the number of shots (3–999) and the focus differential (1–10). The manual notes that the entire sequence is initiated by a single full shutter press and is captured silently using the electronic shutter.〔G-CA444-01〕〔G-CA444-02〕

Check Focus BKT Restrictions Before Starting

The shooting sequence ends when focus reaches infinity; changing focus or zooming after starting will also end the sequence. Four Thirds system lenses do not support Focus BKT, and it cannot be combined with other bracketing modes.〔G-CA444-03〕

Using In-Camera Focus Stacking

Focus Stacking captures multiple shots before and after the current focus position and merges them into a JPEG with increased depth of field; the manual notes that the composite image is magnified 7% horizontally and vertically. This function is only available for supported lenses. If it fails, the camera retains the selected shots but does not output the composite image. Before shooting, check the official OM compatible lens information and leave the composite cropping area indicated in the manual in the frame.〔G-CA444-04〕〔G-CA444-05〕
