1. The powerful explosive power and extreme heat generation of lithium-ion flash for outdoor shooting

Modern outdoor battery-powered outdoor shooting lights have completely got rid of heavy gasoline generators and AC power strips. A single high-rate power lithium battery can explode up to 600Ws (watt seconds) of earth-shattering light energy:

  1. Thousands of volts transient pulse discharge:
  • The internal cells of the battery charge the high-voltage electrolytic capacitor with an extremely high current of more than 30A;
  • At the moment of flash, the capacitor converts hundreds of joules of energy into dazzling light through the xenon flash tube within 1 millisecond;
  1. High temperature melting risk:
  • When the flash is fired at full power continuously (1/1 level), the instantaneous temperature of the flash tube surface reaches hundreds of degrees!
  • If a compact reflector, snoot or closed deep-mouth honeycomb accessory is installed, the heat will be concentrated in a small space and cannot escape, and it is easy to directly scorch, melt and deform the front plastic accessories and even the lens.

2. Full power continuous flash limit and thermal protection cycle (Duty Cycle)

All professional outdoor photography lights are equipped with high-sensitivity NTC thermistor temperature sensors:

  1. Thermal Safety Red Line to Prevent Pipe Explosion:
  • When it is detected that the internal temperature of the lamp head reaches the 70℃~75℃ warning line, the microprocessor forcibly cuts off the charging circuit, the screen flashes the TH / OVERHEAT error code, and the buzzer alarms and shuts down;
  • At this time, the internal fan keeps spinning at high speed and forced cooling takes 10 to 15 minutes until the temperature drops back to trigger the flash again.
  1. Scientific flash frequency control table:
  • When triggering the flash continuously at 1/1 full power, it is strictly prohibited to exceed 50 consecutive bursts;
  • If you need to continuously jump models or capture large quantities of clothing, be sure to lower the power to 1/4 or 1/8: the heat value plummets exponentially to 12.5% of full power. At this time, the outdoor shooting light can continuously trigger hundreds of flashes without triggering an overheating strike.

3. High-rate power battery maintenance and extreme cold insulation in winter

  1. It is strictly prohibited to store the battery completely exhausted (over-discharge and starve to death):
  • If there is only 0 battery left after shooting, it is strictly forbidden to throw it into the warehouse and ignore it for several months! **
  • Under weak power consumption, the BMS protection board inside the lithium battery will lower the voltage of the single cell to below 2.0V within 1 month, causing irreversible over-discharge chemical crystallization. The battery will be completely "starved", locked and scrapped, and the charger will display a red light and cannot be recharged;
  • Iron rule for long-term storage: Be sure to charge the battery to 50%~60% (about two to three bars) before storage, and take it out and recharge it every 3 months.
  1. Protection for extreme cold outdoor shooting in northern winter:
  • In the severe cold of -20℃, the viscosity of the electrolyte increases, and the available capacity of the lithium battery decreases by more than 50%;
  • The backup battery for outdoor shooting must be placed close to the body in the inner pocket of the down jacket to use body heat to keep warm;
  • It is strictly forbidden to plug in the charger immediately after bringing back a cold battery into a warm room from the freezing cold outdoors! ** You must wait for 2 hours for the battery to completely return to room temperature and the condensed water vapor on the surface to completely evaporate before it can be safely charged.
