1. Pain points of centralized power supply for mirrorless body and V-mount system revolution

When modern mirrorless cameras (such as Sony A7S III / FX3, Canon R5, Panasonic S5 II) perform high-specification 4K/8K recording, external wireless image transmission and high-brightness monitors, the original small battery life of each device is usually only 40-70 minutes. Frequent shutdowns to replace 3-4 different types of batteries can easily interrupt the shooting rhythm:

  1. Single energy centralized output center (V-Mount System):
  • A compact 99Wh V-mount battery (such as SmallRig / FXLION Nano) can simultaneously power four sets of devices: Mirrorless camera + 5-inch high-brightness monitor + camera wireless image transmission + electronically controlled follow focus motor for 3 to 5 hours.
  1. Counterweight and center of gravity balance:
  • The V-mount battery is suspended from the rear of the shoulder-mounted rabbit cage kit (Rig), forming a physical torque lever balance with the heavy movie lens in front, which greatly alleviates the fatigue of falling during handheld operation.

2. Safety matching specifications for the three major power supply interfaces and voltage outputs

When powering different devices, the interface voltage must absolutely match the rated input of the device. Incorrect plugging of the interface will instantly cause the mainboard of the fuselage to be broken down by high voltage and burned:

  1. D-Tap interface (output voltage: 14.4V ~ 16.8V unregulated):
  • The battery voltage is as high as 16.8V when fully charged and drops to 12V at the end of discharge.
  • Suitable for: monitors, image transmission, high-power film and television lights (such equipment has an internal bandwidth voltage of 7V-24V voltage stabilization and step-down module).
  • Absolutely Prohibited: Never use a pure copper wire to solder directly from D-Tap to a 7.4V/8.4V micro-single fake battery! The camera must be connected through a dedicated step-down cable with a built-in voltage regulator chip (step-down to 8.0V~8.4V)!
  1. USB-C PD interface (smart protocol deception: 9V/12V/15V/20V):
  • The modern new V-mount battery comes with a USB-C PD two-way fast charging output interface (supports 65W~100W PD protocol).
  • Recommended power supply method: Directly use a high-quality double-ended Type-C data cable to plug the V-mount battery Type-C port into the camera's USB-C charging port (charging and recording at the same time). The internal hardware handshake automatically negotiates 9V 3A, which is safe and efficient, and does not require fake batteries at all.
  1. DC 5.52.1mm / 5.52.5mm interface (constant voltage 8.4V or 12V):
  • Many V-port power supply daughter boards provide clearly marked 8.4V dedicated camera output ports and 12V monitor ports. You must repeatedly check the jack silk screen voltage before wiring, and you must not plug it in incorrectly.

3. D-Tap "Hell Reverse Connection" burn-in physical mechanism and anti-reverse plug countermeasures

  1. Physical structural defects of traditional D-Tap interface:
  • Although the two corners of the D-Tap plug are slightly chamfered on one side (fool-proof design), many cheap plastic male and female connectors have extremely large tolerances. If you use too much force under the emergency dim lighting of the crew, it is entirely possible for the plug to be inserted backwards and backwards!
  1. Reverse breakdown disaster:
  • Inside the D-Tap is an unprotected high-current lithium battery with a capacity of over 10A, with the positive and negative poles connected directly. Once the positive and negative poles are reversed, a reverse high-voltage short circuit will instantly form. The protection diode on the main board of the device will instantly burn and smoke, and the device will be scrapped on the spot.
  1. Safe operation rules:
  • Use the new D-Tap plug with anti-reverse insertion ribs and two-way intelligent anti-fool circuit;
  • Before each insertion, you must clearly see the "+" and "-" polarity marks on the plug and the female socket, and push it in smoothly without force.

4. Civil aviation carry-on safety regulations (IATA/CAAC)

  1. Rated energy calculation formula:
    $$\text{Energy (Wh)} = \text{Voltage (V)} \times \text{Capacity (Ah)}$$
    (Example: 14.8V 6.7Ah = 99.16 Wh).
  2. Red line standards for carrying on board:
  • Single unit rated energy $\le$ 100Wh (such as various types of 95Wh/99Wh batteries): No airline approval is required, and each passenger is allowed to legally carry multiple units in carry-on baggage (usually no more than 4-6 units are recommended).
  • Single block between 100Wh ~ 160Wh: Application must be made to the airline at the check-in counter and approved, and each person is strictly limited to 2 blocks.
  • Exceeding 160Wh (such as 190Wh / 230Wh large film and television batteries): Absolutely strictly prohibited from being carried as a carry-on or checked in as a passenger, and can only go through special dangerous goods air cargo procedures.
  • Strictly Not Checked: All lithium batteries must be carried on the plane with you and are strictly prohibited from being put into checked luggage, otherwise they will be unpacked and detained at the security checkpoint or even delayed in boarding.
